Borussia Dortmund's promising holding midfielder Sven Bender has put pen to paper on a three-year contract extension with the Bundesliga leaders.
The renewed terms commit German Under-21 international Bender to Dortmund until the summer of 2016. Bender, signed at the start of last season from TSV 1860 München, has established himself as a regular in a Dortmund side currently 11 points clear in Germany's top flight – and aiming to clinch a UEFA Europa League round of 32 place on Wednesday with a win at Sevilla FC.
"I have done everything right with my move to Borussia Dortmund and I want to be part of BVB's future," said the 21-year-old who together with twin brother Lars – now at Bayer 04 Leverkusen – helped Germany win the 2008 UEFA European Under-19 Championship.
