UEFA Women's EURO 2025 ticket holders to be offered free public transport

The tournament's dedicated Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy aims to inspire and set new sustainability benchmarks

Smart mobility, diversity and inclusion are the cornerstones of a comprehensive Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy for next summer's UEFA Women's EURO 2025 in Switzerland. Unveiled on 24 October, the strategy demonstrates the commitment towards environmental and social responsibility to go along with excitement and peak sporting performance by focusing on three main goals:

🌍 Reducing environmental impact wherever possible;

💪 Safeguarding and honouring the rights of individuals of all ages, backgrounds, nationalities and abilities;

✅ Embracing transparent, responsible and accountable practices throughout all operations.

The strategy is structured around three pillars - Environmental, Social, and Governance - with 11 areas of action, 27 topics, 47 targets, and 91 initiatives.

A key objective is to minimise the tournament’s environmental footprint by promoting sustainable smart mobility solutions, such as providing free public transport for ticket holders travelling within the host country. On matchdays, match tickets will be valid for a second-class round trip between any Swiss locality and the match venue.

Addressing discrimination is also central to the strategy, with a match observer scheme and rapid response measures in place to address any incidents of abuse. The tournament strongly emphasises accessibility, ensuring inclusivity for fans with impairments and those from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds.

Under the governance pillar, UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 will ensure that all venue operations align with the ESG strategy, and will prioritise transparency, accountability and stakeholder engagement. Several campaigns will be launched throughout the tournament to involve fans in key sustainability initiatives, followed by an ESG report highlighting progress towards set targets.

Drawing on the framework and success of UEFA EURO 2024 in Germany, our aim is to create a positive impact on local economies, tourism and communities while enhancing the global visibility of women’s football.
