Women's EURO 2022 Young Player of the Tournament: Lena Oberdorf

UEFA's team of Technical Observers at UEFA Women's EURO 2022 have named Germany's Lena Oberdorf as the inaugural Young Player of the Tournament.

Oberdorf, who turned 20 in December, flourished in the middle of the park for the tournament runners-up, combining physical robustness, a fine reading of the game and maturity beyond her years. Able to play across the midfield and in defence, the Wolfsburg talent featured in five of Die Nationalelf's six matches.

Described as "the central wheel in Germany's midfield engine that keeps everything running" by UEFA.com reporter Anna-Sophia Vollmerhausen, the midfielder earned her 32nd senior cap as her team reached the Wembley final.

The award celebrates the best player born on or after 1 January 1999. The winner is picked by the technical team as the best performing player throughout the tournament, considered to have been outstanding individually and as part of a team, making a major impact on her team's performances.
