The draws for the quarter-finals and semi-finals of the 2011/12 UEFA club competitions will take place on Friday 16 March at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland.
The UEFA Champions League draw will be conducted at 11.45CET by UEFA General Secretary Gianni Infantino and the ambassador for the Munich final, Paul Breitner.
The UEFA Europa League draw will follow from 13.00CET and will be carried out by the UEFA General Secretary together with the ambassador for the Bucharest final, Miodrag Belodedici.
The eight winners of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 ties will contest the quarter-finals, with the pairings determined by an open draw. At this stage of the competition, no teams are seeded and clubs from the same national association can be drawn against each other. The quarter-finals will be played on a home-and-away basis, with the first legs scheduled for Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 March and the return legs the following week, on Tuesday 3 and Wednesday 4 April.
The four winning teams will, at this point, know whom they will meet in the semi-finals, as the pairings will also be decided during the draw ceremony on 16 March. The semi-final first legs will be held two weeks after the quarter-finals, on Tuesday 17 and Wednesday 18 April, with the second legs on Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 April.
The last step of the draw proceedings will define whether the winner of semi-final 1 or the winner of semi-final 2 will be considered, for administrative purposes, as the "home" team at the final. The 2011/12 UEFA Champions League final will take place on Saturday 19 May at the Fußball Arena München, kicking off at 20.45CET.
The same procedure will apply to the draw for the quarter-finals and semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League. The quarter-final matches will be played on 29 March and 5 April, and the semi-finals on 19 April and 26 April. The final will be staged at the National Arena Bucharest on Wednesday 9 May, starting at 21.45 local time (20.45CET).
Media representatives wishing to attend the draws are requested to apply via email to fame_accreditations@uefa.ch before 12.00CET on Thursday 15 March.
The draw will be transmitted live in the media working area, which is also equipped with a Wi-Fi connection.
Both UEFA club competition draws will be shown live on UEFA.com and Eurosport.
