The 2011/12 UEFA Champions League will conclude at the Fußball Arena München on Saturday 19 May next year – with the city also staging the UEFA Women's Champions League final two days before.
FC Bayern München defender Holger Badstuber is hoping to play in the men's final, and told UEFA.com: "The pitch is perfect. The atmosphere is amazing. The spectators are very close to the pitch, and that creates a great atmosphere. I just think it's a beautiful stadium, it looks great. I love to play in it, and it's nice to watch."
Meanwhile, the two biggest attendances in the history of UEFA women's club competition were in Germany – 28,112 for the 2009 final second leg between FCR 2001 Duisburg and Zvezda-2005, and 27,400 watching 1. FFC Frankfurt meet Umeå IK the year before.
National coach Silvia Neid, whose side will be watched by huge crowds at the forthcoming FIFA Women's World Cup on home soil, said: "Women's football is pretty popular in Germany, and I hope it will stay like that after the World Cup. Then it will definitely be nice in Munich, with the stadium filled with many people, or even sold out, if there is a German team playing in the final."
UEFA.com looks at the key dates in both competitions as 2011 Wembley winners FC Barcelona and female champions Olympique Lyonnais put their European club titles on the line.
